Maimie is from Papulankutja community, Western Australia and is often called on to speak for her community and region through NPY Women’s Council and other forums. She has a special interest in speaking up for and improving services and support to people with mental illness. She was first elected as a Director for NPY Women’s Council in September 2015.

Maimie is a trained Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid presenter and a former Deputy Chairperson of Ngaanyatjarra Council. Her resume includes a strong history of providing cultural knowledge to workplaces in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands including Ngaanyatjarra Land Management, Ngaanyatjarra Health. She is a member of the NPY Women’s Councils highly regarded Uti Kulintjaku initiative that supports mental health in remote communities. Her participation on committees includes, the Ngaanyatjarra Health Advisory Committee, Councillor for Papulankutja Artists and Director, Desart.

Maimie has an extensive work history as a nurse in Perth, health worker in Papulankutja and Tjukurla, Education officer on the Ngaanyatjarra Lands and working in the community Store in Papulankutja and Tjukurla. Maimie is also a well-known translator having providing translation for the Ngaanyatjarra Health Training Students. Maimie is a talented singer for the Papulankutja Church Choir and is both a painter and Tjanpi fibre artists.
