What we do / Domestic and Family Violence Service
Atunypa Wiru Minyma Uwankaraku (Good protection for all women)
The Domestic and Family Violence Service works with families to live safe and happy lives. We support families to overcome cycles of violence, with care and respect.
Referrals
We take referrals for women living on the NPY lands who have experienced the impacts of violence from an intimate partner, family member, experienced other forms of lateral violence.
Casework in Remote Communities
We visit remote communities and offer women culturally safe, practical and therapeutic support. Our casework is trauma-informed and supports women to find solutions for their own safety and wellbeing.
Community Programs & Legal Education
Under a community development framework, we offer transformative programs and resources on the NPY lands. We build relationships, support conversations and offer legal understandings around domestic and family violence. We advocate for women, and their communities. We help service providers better understand issues relating to domestic and family violence.
Research is an important aspect of our work and ensures remote communities are involved in consultation to create tools and resources that support families to live safely, happily and together.
Domestic & Family Violence Training for Service Providers
The service offers relevant, contextual and professional training to service providers across the NPY region and Alice Springs. This is a free service to Aboriginal Corporations.
