Living in Alice Springs

Mparntwe is the Arrernte word for Alice Springs. The Arrernte people, who are the traditional custodians of Alice Springs, have a strong connection with the land.

Many staff have relocated to Alice Springs to work at NPY Women’s Council, often from Australia’s main cities.

Alice Springs is also surrounded by stunning landscapes, ideal for weekend hikes and camping adventures.

The most famous feature is the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges, home of the 223 kilometre-long Larapinta Trail, a world-renowned trek that will take you through cliffs, chasms, waterholes, and mountains.
