Living in Alice Springs

Mparntwe is the Arrernte word for Alice Springs. The Arrernte people, who are the traditional custodians of Alice Springs, have a strong connection with the land.

Many staff have relocated to Alice Springs to work at NPY Women’s Council, often from Australia’s main cities.

Alice Springs is a small town with a great sense of community and hosts a fantastic range of music, art, and sporting events throughout the year, including:

Alice Springs is also surrounded by stunning landscapes, ideal for weekend hikes and camping adventures.

The most famous feature is the magnificent MacDonnell Ranges, home of the 223 kilometre-long Larapinta Trail, a world-renowned trek that will take you through cliffs, chasms, waterholes, and mountains.
