NPY Women’s Council is an Alice Springs based Anangu-led not-for-profit organisation with a proud 45 year history. They deliver a wide range of health, social and cultural services to women, men, young people and children of all ages across the NPY region which spans the NT, SA and WA. With a track record of growth and achievement, the organisation is now 300 employees strong and poised for an exciting new era of change to position itself to better support the ongoing future prosperity and success of all Anangu. 

The Child and Family Wellbeing Service (CFWS) is a holistic service providing support to children and families in the forms of; Child Nutrition, Intensive Family Support, Child Advocacy and Kinship Services.

The primary focus is to deliver targeted, efficient and effective community services within the NPY region, seeking the best possible outcomes for improving the quality of life for Anangu children and communities across the central desert tri-state region, encompassing communities in the NT, SA and WA.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, key responsibilities include:

Providing leadership to the  CFWS team, promoting dedication and accountability to clients and members, inline with the  NPYWC and CFWS service principles

  • Co-ordinating, developing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating CFWS model(s) and outcomes utilising an action research model.

  • Working with staff to assist NPY member communities to identify needs and gaps in the provision of services for families/children in NPY communities

  • Advocating for the rights and needs of families and children to relevant Government and non-Government stakeholders, funders and/or agencies

  • Applying for funding that meet the needs of families and children in the NPY region

  • Ensuring service agreement responsibilities and reporting are met

  • Overseeing the recruitment of staff, and supervising senior team members to determine coverage when positions are vacant

  • Report preparation for Directors and members for Director’s meetings and annual general meetings.

  • Representing NPY Women’s Council at stakeholder meetings and the programs at inter-agency, community and government meetings as required

  • Providing regular communication with other NPY Women’s Council programs to ensure a co-ordinated response to the needs of children and families on NPY member communities.

  • Implementing Mai Wiru (good food) Regional Stores Policy on the APY Lands, and other store policies as required

  • Ensuring the client database, systems and workplace information is kept confidential, record keeping  maintained, and policies and procedures updated

  • Preparing annual budgets and monitoring project expenditure in order to successfully acquit program funding

  • Participating as a Senior Manager in general matters relating to NPY Women's Council business, including regular Senior Leadership sessions with other Managers and the Executive

  • Ensuring the team complies with WHS standards, and that there is a strong culture and practice of safety and risk management. 

We seek a highly motivated leader ideally with a deep knowledge, passion, lived experience and cultural acumen of child and family wellbeing in Central Australian communities.

Demonstrable experience in a similar role along with relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, health, human services (or similar) will be essential in this role.

This Alice Springs based role will require some travel interstate and to communities across the NPY region. Remuneration will be negotiated within the range based on skills, experience and qualifications.
