Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Women’s Council is an Anangu-led organisation delivering health, social and cultural services across the NPY region.

About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and community-focused Child Nutrition Development Officer to join our Child and Family Wellbeing Service team.

Working collaboratively within the Child Nutrition Program, you will support families with children aged 0–5 years, particularly those experiencing growth faltering and child protection concerns.

This role is based in Alice Springs and involves regular travel to remote NPY communities, including overnight stays during the working week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management and support to families and carers with children under five

  • Conduct nutrition and health promotion workshops within communities

  • Support the development of culturally appropriate nutrition education resources

  • Work collaboratively with Anangu community members and stakeholders

  • Support community-based nutrition initiatives and advocacy activities

  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, reports and data collection

  • Assist with referrals and coordination with health, education and community services

  • Support policy and program development activities

  • Follow mandatory reporting responsibilities relating to child protection and domestic violence

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in community services, health, nutrition, early childhood, family support or related fields

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work respectfully within a cross-cultural environment

  • Experience working independently and within a collaborative team

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Willingness to travel extensively to remote communities

Highly regarded:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities

  • Community development experience

  • Nutrition, health promotion or family support experience

Qualifications:

Relevant qualifications in:

  • Nutrition

  • Health Sciences

  • Human Services

  • Community Development

  • Early Childhood

  • Education
    or related disciplines will be highly regarded.

Equivalent experience will also be considered.
