NPY Women’s Council (NPYWC) is an Anangu-led organisation governed by women’s law, authority and culture. We deliver health, social and cultural services across the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara (NPY) region.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Officer to join our Finance team in Alice Springs on a full-time, 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accounts and finance administration experience who enjoys working in a busy, collaborative environment.

About the Role

As Finance Officer, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of NPY Women’s Council, working across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking, reconciliations and general finance administration.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers while ensuring financial transactions and records are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices and Accounts Payable transactions.

  • Match purchase orders and invoices and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.

  • Process invoices and financial transactions using Xero.

  • Coordinate weekly supplier payments.

  • Complete supplier statement and account reconciliations.

  • Manage Accounts Receivable, including invoicing and following up outstanding payments.

  • Assist with corporate credit card administration and monthly reconciliations.

  • Support banking and petty cash processes.

  • Prepare travel allowances and workshop fee requests.

  • Maintain purchase order records and registers.

  • Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding finance-related queries.

  • Assist with month-end, quarterly and annual reporting.

  • Support end-of-financial-year audit preparation.

About You

You are organised, accurate and confident working with financial information. You are comfortable working independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.

You will bring:

  • Formal accounting qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in a similar finance role.

  • Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

  • Experience using accounting software, preferably Xero.

  • Intermediate Excel skills.

  • Strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • A friendly, professional and approachable manner.

  • Previous experience working within an Aboriginal organisation or not-for-profit environment will be highly regarded.
