Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded over 40 years ago by strong Anangu women who sought a voice and a vehicle to implement change for their communities. We are proudly Anangu-led, grounded in women’s law, authority and culture, and guided by the collective agency of women and our guiding principles.

Today, we deliver critical health, social and cultural services across 350,000 km² spanning the NT, SA and WA tri-state regions. We are also a powerful advocate, strengthening Anangu-led solutions to improve the lives of women, children and families.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and culturally grounded Human Resources Manager to lead and strengthen the HR function of NPY Women’s Council.

The HR Manager will:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of all HR functions including recruitment, workforce planning, performance, learning & development, and employee relations
    • Lead implementation and oversight of the Aboriginal Employment Strategy to grow career pathways and retention of Anangu staff
    • Strengthen workforce culture, capability and organisational effectiveness
    • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships across the organisation, to ensure you are a trusted and sought after advisor to the management team and staff • Support managers and leadership with expert HR advice and solutions
    • Ensure compliance with employment law, industrial instruments and internal policies
    • Build respectful and inclusive workplaces that align with organisational values and cultural safety

ABOUT THE TEAM

The HR Manager will lead the HR team and report to the Chief Operating Officer. You will work closely with leadership team, managers and staff across programs to champion best practice and culturally responsive HR systems, structures and outcomes.

You are a values-driven, collaborative HR leader with a strong commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce outcomes. You bring credibility, cultural competence, adaptability and the experience and drive  to operate with integrity in a complex, culturally diverse environment.

You have a demonstrated ability to lead HR functions strategically and operationally with a focus on continuous improvement and organisational capability.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or related field, or equivalent experience
    • Demonstrated experience in HR leadership including recruitment, performance, workplace relations and workforce planning
    • Strong understanding of Australian employment law and best practice HR frameworks
    • Proven ability to design and implement workforce strategies and initiatives
    • High level interpersonal, communication and team leadership skills

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in not-for-profit or community-controlled organisations
    • Knowledge of Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and/or Yankunytjatjara culture and contexts
