Mutitjulu is located 466km by road from Alice Springs in the far south west corner of the Northern Territory.

The community is situated near the base of Uluru, which provides a source of many opportunities and adventure for young people.

Come on down to the rec shed after school and during holidays to talk to us and join the fun. NPYWC has a team of Youth Development Officers who live and work in Mutitjulu. They arrange HEAPS of fun, active, healthy activities for young people and offer excellent support for anyone facing problems or challenges, or those who just need a hand.

Here’s a taste of what’s been happening in Mutitjulu lately...

  • Weekly movie nights are lots of fun, with hot popcorn, fruit drinks and a fun-filled community spirit.
  • Famous Mutitjulu disco with lots of music, colourful lights, competitions and prizes. The community joins in and shares dances, laughs and happy smiles. Young people volunteer as DJ’s, shopkeepers, competition judges, and cleaning. We are very impressed with their helpful and valuable support.
  • Exciting local events! So far this year we have had the Kids Olympics, Yulara Movie Marathon, and trips to the Mutitjulu Rock Hole. For NAIDOC week we also visited the Uluru cultural centre. There, the young people learnt to throw spears, cook kangaroo tail and dabble in dot painting. • Music with the computer program ‘Garage Band’ is a daily activity for young people to practise, write, and record songs. With the new rec hall opening and lots of new music gear we look forward to watching the local band play live.
  • The Muti Mob Media group have been exploring their creative expression through still and moving images. At Muti Mob Media training, the young people are taught the basic skills of photography and film-making as well as the technical skills to perform, shoot and edit their stories. This provides a great vehicle for young people to transform their ideas and dreams into a visual reality.
  • We also love to make healthy creative foods on the outdoor BBQ, do arts and crafts and have fitness sessions with outdoor basketball comps, indoor weights and aerobic exercise
