Imanpa

Imanpa Community is located 275km from Alice Springs just off the Lasseter Highway between Erldunda and Uluru.

Come on down to the rec shed after school and during holidays to talk to us and join the fun. NPYWC has a fantastic team of Youth Development Officers who live and work in Imanpa. They arrange HEAPS of fun, active, healthy activities for young people and offer excellent support for anyone facing problems or challenges, or those who just need a hand.

Here’s a taste of what’s been happening in Imanpa lately...

  • Music and arts are VERY popular here! We have so many talented musicians in Imanpa  and lately we have been helping the Imanpa Reggae Band put together their new album.
  • The monthly 8-ball competition is a highlight at the rec shed – some fierce competition from our experienced young players!
  • Regular art and craft activities are always popular. We are trying out many different types of art including watercolour drawing, pastels, acrylic painting, sketching and texta drawing.  The young people get the chance to find the type of art that suits them and their style. The rec shed looks fantastic with everyone’s art on display
  • Sport plays a big part in the community.  The Imanpa football and softball teams are always training in preparation for the next sports carnival.
  • Disco and movie nights are a big hit, with many parents coming to join the fun too.
  • Hair dying and styling have always been popular and we are now taking it to the next stage and making our own shampoo and soap. It has been fun experimenting with the different smells and colours and the girls love to keep clean and feel good.
