“You’ve got to remember that this is the tradition, this is the knowledge and Law. It’s something that has been held onto which came from the days before there were hospitals and other forms of doctors. We were responsible for looking after all the people. We have held onto that knowledge…” Rupert Peter ....The Ngangkari program supports traditional and new ways of healing, mental health & wellbeing. It is still fiercely directed by ngangkari and senior Anangu leaders. Rupert and Andy were the first employees of the Ngangkari program. Their rockstar personalities and profound power as ngangkari's guaranteed the success of the program. would love to see them officially recognised and employed in all the remote clinics. Need a two way medical system financially supported on a daily level on communities. (just my opinion)
Wonderful men who did so much so well. They had huge knowledge , kindness and compassion
I learnt so much from those men. We used to go down to the Port Augusta Prison together a couple of times a year and they would do health sessions with the men there. It was so appreciated by the men and the prison.
Two true gentlemen missed by all who knew them
Indeed they do, I was very fortunate to see the Ngangkari healers at an IAHA conference in Alice Springs and also the female elders at the mental health conference in Cairns. The elders have so much knowledge about traditional healing. 🖤💛❤
