Youth Development Officers – full time, remote Central Australia, various locations

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region in central Australia.  It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.  Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

The NPY Women’s Council’s Youth Service works with children and young people (aged 10-25) and their families living in the NPY region and is integral to the work we do.  The Youth Service model is based on four key components: Case Management, Leadership and Education, Youth Diversion and Recreation and Advocacy.  As a Youth Development Officer, you will work with Anangu to develop and deliver a creative, supportive, educational youth program.  Along with coordinating engagement activities, you will provide aspirational case management, supporting young people who are at risk and inspiring those who are doing well.

We are looking for people who have previous youth work experience.  If this has been gained remotely, it will be highly regarded.  You will be passionate about this type of work, with a willingness and capacity to learn the skill sets you don’t yet know.  In this role, you will need to have high energy and be committed to working alongside Anangu.  You will have values that closely align with our guiding principles, be resilient, driven and strong in relationship building.

The Youth Development Officer positions are remote-based with accommodation provided, returning to Alice Springs every 8 – 12 weeks for supervision, case reviews, personal tasks, health and wellbeing.

You will work within a supportive, trauma informed team in an organisation which provides a comprehensive orientation program. You will receive best practice supervision and professional development that includes training in vicarious trauma, case management and four-wheel driving.  We also provide critical incident de-briefing and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this, we offer a generous remuneration package.  You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days of annual leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus.  We also provide NPY Women’s Council accommodation and use of a company vehicle.
