Tanya we need NPY Women's Council at the table when we speak with government. What we hope government will consider is a community led cultural approach to addressing the kids who have lost their way. π₯°
You are one of the most inspirational women I know who cares for so many people. Sending love to you and your beautiful family. I feel blessed to have met you all and worked with you.

πππTrying new ways to cut onions without crying. NPYWC Nutrition team, always innovating! ... See MoreSee Less

My work safety glasses work so good for me. I’m done crying when cutting onions π§
Place a glass of water or wet paper towel near the onions when your cutting them, the acidity from the onions gravitates towards the water ππΌ or light a match before you cut them, the sulfur disables whatever it is that makes your eyes water π worst job π
Great idea I will try. If I’m wearing my contact lenses I have no difficulty chopping onions. When I’m not wearing them I will follow this advice.
It may look odd, but it would be effective and also provide some short term oxygen that isn't filled with onion fumes - just remember to take off every 30-60 seconds for fresh air, that carbon monoxide from exhaling is not good aye!
I love this! Great ideas, gotta try it.
Deadly ππβ€οΈ love your style ♥οΈπ€π€πΉ
Giving the chopping board and knife to the wife works best :)
.... you are a total crack up... β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
I breathe through my mouth and works every time
Breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose Works for me
I Love It :)
Contact lenses are the go, coming from someone who cuts 10kg at a time every other month
So funny - I keep mine in the fridge too and not a tear since
This is pure gold. Love it. x
Brilliant
Cut them under water in the sink.
This is classic I love it
Did it work …some say if you leave peeled onion soak in cold water for a while …not so stinging and teary for the eyes
Aye that’s how!
The trick is to start crying. Then run your wrists under cold tap water for 40 sec then you can go back to cutting without a problem
The best photo
Love this innovation. I'll use it!
Whatever works for you
Put onion in freezer 4 hrs stop juice in eyes
Very creative

Tanya
If any politician could tell me where dv funding is allocated that be great. After the events of the last few weeks... police make a referral to ‘child connect’ as they do not have time to follow up on dv cases. Child connect sends a text message saying please contact them. When I contact them the lady says they have to respond with a text within 48 hours and what is it that I want... kind of strange as I don’t know what they offer. The lady keeps asking how they can help me and what support do I want... eventually she says I will send you some brochures in the mail of parenting courses in the area and I should contact CADA - Caboolture area domestic violence service for further information she will now close my case. I ring cada and I’m told I can go to counselling but the lady is away till March and if the children want counselling it’s a 2 month wait at least. I then have to go to the doctors 3 times to get a health care plan for me and my children and a referral to a psychologist- no appointments for 2 months. I then get an appointment with Cada for their safety at home program. They can help with installing some security features. I am deemed high risk after doing a safety plan questionnaire- but in the same breath I am told that funding is very limited and this month there is no chance of any help, come back in March and we can try again. Off my own back I booked a meeting with the head honcho of Caboolture police. We stay there for 1.5 hours and I come away shaking my head... he gave me the same bullshit ‘police are human’ they sometimes don’t get it right, blah blah blah and basically validated that it’s ok for my ex partner to hurt me as I shouldn’t of gone to his house.... I then today just got a call from the SAME woman at child connect saying police made another referral so she had to contact me, but since we already spoke and she sent the brochures out she will close my case. I also got a call from PRADO which is apparently the police specialist DV unit who told me I should contact CADA as they have a great safety at home service! Will add, when I was at the hospital the social worker had gone home sick.... I also rang Centrelink who told me there is only an emergency payment for DV if you physically move home due to violence. Funny as when I did flee my original home on separation Centrelink told me there wasn’t anything available.
Wilkinkarra (Lake MacKay) in the Great Sandy Desertβ¦.so remote!!! The guys from Kiwirrkurra are out camping for 3 days visiting homelands, the lake, telling stories, spear and boomerang making. NPYWC Youth Service in action β ... See MoreSee Less

Kiwikurra is one of, if not the most remote community in the world it is some 800km into the desert from Alice Springs which is its closest town even though it is in Western Australia. and believe it or not until 1985 the people had not seen a white person still living a nomadic existance. We went there in 1995 my wife was a nurse and I was the project officer we stayed there in the community for just on a year.
Wow!!! So vast! What an awesome experience

How interesting that this is about Women but all I can see are men?
Big community and lots of elders past and present
that's a beautiful part of country, love how the horizon and sky start to blend together
The majority of people in Australia that die in the deserts are aboriginal. Cars breaking down, getting lost, and just bad luck. It is so unfortunate that most of these amazing people have lost the skills to survive .
Must have towed wood in for boomerangs and spears look like they burnt it out last visit lol
Out there killing of the wild life as they do and no one to stop them
